Items are pieces of equipment that can be picked up and used in Barotrauma. Most of them can be purchased from the in-game shop in exchange for credits, which are currency earned by completing quests in Quest Mode.
One unique property of items in Barotrauma is that some items may require the player to have both of their hand slots to be available to use. An example of this is the Harpoon Gun, which requires both hands to operate. However, other items such as the Stun Grenade or Wrench can simply be used with one hand slot.
There exists several different sub-types of items; these include weapons, tools, gear and medical.
