The Rapid Fissile Accelerator is a Handheld Ranged Weapon in Barotrauma.

Description

The Rapid Fissile Accelerator is a two-handed long-range large-size weapon. When the trigger is held, the weapon will charge up and then fire a beam after a delay of 0.75 seconds, using various Fuel Rods as ammunition. The Rapid Fissile Accelerator is incredibly precise and powerful, capable of reasonably dealing with anything the size of a Mudraptor Veteran or smaller with ease at far ranges.

It can be crafted by an Engineer with the Nuclear Option unlocked, or it can be bought from Coalition Military Outposts if the player has at least 70 Reputation with the Europa Coalition.

Function

The Rapid Fissile Accelerator is held with both hands and must be loaded with a Fuel Rod, Thorium Fuel Rod, Fulgurium Fuel Rod, or Volatile Fulgurium Fuel Rod to be used. As with all weapons and tools, using it is done by holding the Right Mouse Right-click to take aim, then by Left Mouse Left-clicking to shoot/use.

  • It has a single slot for ammunition that can contain a single Fuel Rod.
  • Due to the Rapid Fissile Accelerator's size, it cannot be carried in the hotbar. It can only be held with both hands, or in the Gear slot, which hangs it from the Character's back.
  • Like most two-handed weapons, the Rapid Fissile Accelerator has a Flashlight slot. The inserted Flashlight automatically turns on whenever the weapon is drawn.
  • When using the Rapid Fissile Accelerator it is advised to wear PUCS if available, as the explosion can hurt the user and deliver heavy doses of Radiation Sickness.
