The Mudraptor Veteran is a variant of the Mudraptor.

Description

The Mudraptor Veteran is a larger, older Mudraptor. Its armor resembles rusted metal, and its claws are capable of easily shredding through any wall or Door. The age of the Mudraptor Veteran has caused its shell to grow sharper and more defined. However, its armor is not any stronger than a regular Mudraptor's.

In-Game

The Mudraptor Veteran is 37% bigger than the regular Mudraptor. They are normally found hunting with packs of Mudraptor, and can be seen leading said packs with another Veteran. Their behavior is identical to the Mudraptor; they will still target doors and glass windows aggressively, and they're still a serious threat to the crew once onboard the Submarine. Unlike the Mudraptor, however, they are a major threat both inside and outside of the submarine as they are capable of causing significant hull damage. Mudraptor Veterans can destroy doors in 2-3 hits, forcing crew members to preemptively flee if they wish for any chance to survive a Mudraptor Veteran boarding the sub.

Combat Strategies

It is advised to take preventative measures when fighting Mudraptor Veterans, as they are significantly stronger than a player in land combat. Using a Coilgun with Piercing Ammunition Boxes is an incredibly effective method of neutralizing the threat before they get close to the sub. Using Regular Coilgun Ammunition is not as effective against Mudraptor Veterans due to their increased health. Alternatively, the Railgun is equally as effective although much slower. The Pulse Laser is the most expensive option, but is the quickest method.

If a player intends to fight a Mudraptor Veteran in close quarters combat, it is recommended to shoot their unprotected areas, like their legs and underside (which are easy targets as they are naturally exposed when they are walking). The best weapons for dealing with the Mudraptor Veteran's armor are ones with high stopping power, such as the Revolver or Shotgun. To maximize the chance of survival, it is recommended to dual-wield revolvers. It is important to aim for the head, as that is the weakest point of the Mudraptor Veteran if the armor is broken.

It is important to note that if all other options have been exhausted, a player can kill a Mudraptor Veteran using Raptor Bane Extract; a refined plant extract which is lethal to Mudraptors. It can be fired from a Syringe Gun, which allows the player to maintain a safe distance. If none of the above strategies are viable for the current situation, do not attempt to fight it using melee weapons. The Mudraptor Veteran will quickly overpower the player.
