The Revolver is a Handheld Ranged Weapon in Barotrauma.

Description

The Revolver is a one-handed long-range small-size firearm. It is most useful for incapacitating or killing rogue crew members or smaller Creatures (such as Husks, or Crawlers), as it won't be very effective against larger sea creatures. Of note is that all types of Revolver ammunition possess some level of armor penetration, making the Revolver somewhat effective against armored foes. For example, the 10% penetration of a normal Revolver Round will increase the damage against Body Armor by 40% (from 80% damage-reduction to 72%). The Captain spawns with a fully loaded Revolver. In fact, on default campaign settings, he is the only crew member possessing a firearm at the start of the campaign.

It can be crafted by a Captain with the Gunsmith talent, or alternatively can be bought on Outposts.

Function

The Revolver is held with one hand and must be loaded with Revolver Rounds or Depleted Fuel Revolver Rounds to be used. As with all weapons and tools, using it is done by holding the Right Mouse Right-click to take aim, then by Left Mouse Left-clicking to shoot/use.

  • It has a single slot for ammunition that can contain up to 6 rounds.
  • It is possible to carry one in each hand, doubling firepower and ammunition, at the cost of another inventory slot. Alternatively, it is possible to wield other items, such as a Flashlight, in the other hand.
  • It can be stored in the inventory.

Trivia

  • The Revolver used to not be craftable, however in the 0.20 update it was made craftable by a Captain as a part of the talent rework.
  • The Revolver bears a heavy resemblance to the real-life six-shooter, the Chiappa Rhino, manufactured by Chiappa Firearms.
