The Boom Stick is a unique variant of the Riot Shotgun.png Riot Shotgun, which differs from the latter by having a much faster pump-action, quadrupled knockback, but lower magazine size.

The Boom Stick is a short-range weapon which fires eight pellets from a single Shotgun Shell.png Shotgun Shell, which make it difficult to hit distant targets as they can spread. Shotgun Shells deal larger amounts of damage at close range, where more pellets may hit, inflicting Affliction Gunshot Wound.png Gunshot Wounds, Affliction Bleeding.png Bleeding and a brief Affliction Stun.png Stun. It can also fire Explosive Slug.png Explosive Slugs and Shotgun Rubber Shell.png Shotgun Rubber Shells. As for every other firearm, used ammunition cannot be recovered.

The Boom Stick's pump-action is near-instant at 0.1 second, against 1.5 second for the Riot Shotgun. It has four times the knockback, with 20 against 5 for the Riot Shotgun, and its magazine can only hold 2 Shotgun Shells, against 6 for the Riot Shotgun.

It should be noted that the Boom Stick has a wide spread even for skilled users. Therefore, in the hands of the unskilled, the spread greatly reduces the weapon's utility outside of point-blank range.

The Boom Stick is held with both hands and must be loaded with Shotgun Shell.png Shotgun Shells or Explosive Slug.png Explosive Slugs or Shotgun Rubber Shell.png Shotgun Rubber Shells to be used. As with all weapons and tools, using it is done by holding the Right Mouse Right-click to take aim, then by Left Mouse Left-clicking to shoot/use.

Shooting 10 times per second is relatively easy. While holding Left Mouse and Right Mouse, load shells from the hotbar by pressing the approppriate number key. Press the key at least 5 times per second to shoot as quickly as it is possible.

  • The Boom Stick is a direct reference to the signature shotgun used by Ash Williams, the protagonist of the 1992 American dark fantasy comedy film Army of Darkness from the Evil Dead horror film franchise, where he refers to his twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington as a "boomstick". The term has since become a common name for shotguns, particularly short-barreled, or "sawed-off" double-barreled shotguns, which the Boom Stick appears to be.

The Boom Stick uses the same audio files as the Riot Shotgun.
