Raptor Bane Seed is a Gardening item.

Description

Raptor Bane Seeds are small pink seeds that can be stored in Seed Bags, and are used to grow Raptor Bane Vines, a plant with green vines spreading on the walls, and blooming on these vines are bright pink flowers, which are the only source of Raptor Banes used for crafting the Raptor Bane Extract, and of Mutated Raptor Banes, which don't have a use other than deconstructing them for more seeds. It is a relatively safe plant to grow, as it can't cause any harm other than some Nausea, but its fruit is useful only for fighting mudraptors, and despite its quick production rate its still not very profitable, as most of the dropped fruits are mutated, and of no use.

They can be bought on some Outposts, or obtained from deconstructing Raptor Banes, or Mutated Raptor Banes. They are also sometimes found in Wrecks.

Method

One has to be careful when growing, or even running past this plant, as Mutated Raptor Banes explode a few seconds after dropping from a flower, inflicting Nausea to anyone within 1.5 meters.

To start a garden, first place a Small Planter Box inside the submarine. Then, use the Raptor Bane Seed on the Planter Box to plant it. The bud consumes water over time and grows vines on the wall. A Watering Can is used to refill the Planter Box with fresh water. When fully grown, the plant drops fruits from flowers on the vines. If the water in the Planter Box runs out, the plant will die. Dead plants can be uprooted by hand, allowing the Planter Box to be repotted or removed entirely. Planter Boxes in contact with seawater will be drained of their fresh water supply. Fertilizer can be used on the Planter Box to double the growth speed and fruit production rate of the plant inside it for 16 minutes and 40 seconds.
