Tobacco Vine Seed is a Gardening item.

Description

Tobacco Vine Seeds are small blue seeds that can be stored in Seed Bags, and are used to grow Tobacco Vines, a plant with darkish red vines spreading on the walls, and blooming on these vines are blue flowers, which are the only source of Tobacco Buds used for crafting Pipe Tobacco. It is the safest and easiest type of plant to grow, as it can't cause any harm and lasts a very long time without watering, but it provides a rarely useful fruit, and at a very slow rate, which makes it a lot less profitable as some other ones.

They can be bought on some Outposts, or obtained from deconstructing Tobacco Buds. They are also sometimes found in Wrecks.

Method

To start a garden, first place a Small Planter Box inside the submarine. Then, use the Tobacco Vine Seed on the Planter Box to plant it. The bud consumes water over time and grows vines on the wall. A Watering Can is used to refill the Planter Box with fresh water. When fully grown, the plant drops fruits from flowers on the vines. If the water in the Planter Box runs out, the plant will die. Dead plants can be uprooted by hand, allowing the Planter Box to be repotted or removed entirely. Planter Boxes in contact with seawater will be drained of their fresh water supply. Fertilizer can be used on the Planter Box to double the growth speed and fruit production rate of the plant inside it for 16 minutes and 40 seconds.
