The Flare is a consumable, throwable, light-emitting item in Barotrauma.

Usage

A flare is activated by holding it, and pressing Left Mouse LMB. It is thrown by holding Right Mouse RMB, and then pressing Left Mouse LMB. Throwing a flare will also activate it.

Active flares radiate a red, flickering light in a 6.0m radius for 400s (6min 40s). Unlike Glowsticks, they will sink in the water once dropped or thrown.

Both flares and glowsticks will attract the attention of many creatures, potentially providing a useful distraction.
