The welding tool is a handheld tool that can be used in Subsurface.
Function
The welding tool is capable of quickly repairing damaged structures, such as walls or windows. It is a crucial tool, as it can be used to stop flooding and creatures from getting into the submarine. The tool is required to perform mechanical repairs on certain installations.
The welding tool requires both hands to use. Once equipped, the player can hold down right-click (mouse2) to aim the tool. It will then angle itself in whatever direction your cursor is currently positioned at. Left-clicking (mouse1) and holding will then activate the tool, affecting any structures that are within its range. Structures which are being affected will be highlighted by a rectangle; the color of said rectangle determines the condition of the structure, with a more red color being poor and a greener color being good.
The welding tool can also be used to seal doors, making them unable to be opened. The only way to un-seal a door is to use a plasma cutter on it.
It is advised that the player verify the required skill level to operate the welding tool is met. If they attempt to use the tool without the appropriate skill level, the welding fuel tank will explode. This will cause significant damage to the player and any surrounding entities, in addition to stunning them.
