The Riot Shotgun is a short range weapon firing eight pellets from a single {{Hyperlink|Shotgun Shell|20}}, which makes it difficult to hit distant targets as they can spread. As for every other firearm, used ammunition cannot be recovered. Shotgun Shells deal larger amounts of damage at close range, where more pellets may hit, inflicting {{Hyperlink|Gunshot Wound|20|Affliction Gunshot Wound}}, {{Hyperlink|Bleeding|20|Affliction Bleeding}} and a brief {{Hyperlink|Stun|20|Affliction Stun}}.


It should be noted that the Riot Shotgun has a wide spread even for skilled users. Therefore, in the hands of the unskilled, the spread greatly reduces the weapon's utility outside of point-blank range.

The Riot Shotgun is a Handheld Ranged Weapon in Barotrauma.

Description

The Riot Shotgun is a two-handed short-range medium-size firearm. It fires Shotgun Shells and Shotgun Rubber Shells, firing eight pellets spread randomly in a 15° arc; or, alternatively, it fires a single explosive projectile from a Explosive Slug. Shotgun Shells deal larger amounts of damage at close range, where more pellets may hit, but individual pellets deal the same damage at any range.

It can be crafted by a Security Officer with the Weaponsmith talent, or alternatively can be bought on Outposts with a difficulty of at least 30%.

Function

The Riot Shotgun is held with both hands and must be loaded with Shotgun Shells or Explosive Slugs or Shotgun Rubber Shells to be used. As with all weapons and tools, using it is done by holding the Right Mouse Right-click to take aim, then by Left Mouse Left-clicking to shoot/use.

  • It has a single slot for ammunition that can contain up to 6 rounds.
  • Like most two-handed weapons, the Riot Shotgun has a Flashlight slot. The inserted Flashlight automatically turns on whenever the weapon is drawn.
