The Heavy Wrench is a Tool in Barotrauma.
Description
The Heavy Wrench is a two-handed tool which can be used as a Melee Weapon. Its an upgrade over the regular Wrench as it repairs 40% faster and inflicts over 6 times more Blunt Force Trauma and 1 Stun, although its attack speed is slightly worse. Its greatly increased damage combined with the Multifunctional and other Mechanic melee damage talents makes it one of the strongest melee weapons, able to comfortably fend off Crawlers, Mudraptors or other small Creatures. Its other purpose is performing mechanical repairs on installations which are in need of them. It is also used to detach certain devices from walls, such as Wiring Components or Buttons.
It can be crafted by a Mechanic with the I Am That Guy talent unlocked; It cannot be bought.
Function
The Heavy Wrench is held with both hands. As with all weapons and tools, using it is done by holding the Right-click to take aim, then by Left-clicking to shoot/use.
- It can be used to repair mechanical installations by pressing the "Use" keybind ( by default) on an installation to open the repair GUI and starting the repairs.
- Attempting a repair while not having the required Mechanical Engineering skill takes a lot longer and presents a risk of failure, which interrupts the repair and inflicts Lacerations and Stun.
- It can also be used to detach items from the wall by pressing the "Use" keybind ( by default) on an item to start detaching it.
- If the player does not have the adequate Mechanical Skill they will suffer an Attack Speed penalty and will inflict a short Stun to themselves on every swing.
- The Heavy Wrench gains 10% Repair Speed per quality level. (10% / 20% / 30%)
