Unlike humans, pets can not open doors, do not require air to breathe, and will not be crushed by high water pressure. Mostly, they wander around looking cute while waiting to be fed and played with.

Pets have two inventory slots that can be accessed when alive and grabbed by the player. Any small items can be stored here, but mostly one of the slots is for the Pet Name Tag if the player wishes to name the Pet. If it dies, the body will splatter and any contents in its inventory will be lost.

The Happiness is the state of Pets and ensures item production to occur.

The Peanut's Happiness decreases by 0.96% every minute and can be increased by being fed or played with. There is a 6 second cooldown before the player can play with it again.

When Happiness is high enough, the Happy icon will appear above its head. But if Happiness is low enough, the Sad icon will appear instead.
Pets are hatched from Strange Eggs, which are purchasable in Store, found rarely in wrecks (5%), or laid by their respective Pet. The Saline can be put inside the Egg, which causes it to hatch immediately.

Hunger
Pets generally cannot interact with anything but only wander aimlessly through the hulls while occasionally making idle noises and require attentive care from the crew every now and then. They do not require air to breathe nor get crushed by high pressure when deep underwater. However, they are fragile, unarmored, and non-aggressive as they are easily killed and will flee when severely injured.
All Pets needs to eat to relinquish their Hunger, which increases by 1.8% per minute. At 30% Hunger, Pets become hungry and the Hunger icon will appear above their head. The player can feed them by dropping an appropriate Food item on the ground and the tamed Creature will approach and consume it immediately.

Feeding a pet replenishes 50% hunger and increases its happiness by 5%.
They can also be named with the use of the Pet Name Tag being put inside one of their two available inventory slots that can only be accessed when alive and grabbed by the player.
