The Leucocyte are an algae-like Creature that live among Thalamus-infected Wrecks.

Description

Leucocytes are small, agile, and are capable of entering a Submarine. They resemble a sort of green algae in a spherical shape. They move around by pushing towards a particular direction. Leucocytes are very capable of killing Humans by inflicting Burn and Slow Paralysis. Leucocytes appear everywhere within wrecked hulls of submarines, often in groups.

In-Game

Leucocytes are almost harmless on their own but their behavior results in them stacking together, usually within the same area. This results in their target often being stunlocked into immediate severe paralysis, and then burned to death. It's advised to bring Anaparalyzant and a minimum of one other person with you, as Leucocytes will make large crowds in rooms with Cell Spawn Organs. Listen out for distinct, high pitched ringing, as that is one of the only warnings you get that Leucocytes are nearby.

Leucocytes have a constant health regeneration of 1 hp/s.

Combat Strategies

As the Leucocyte lacks ranged attacks, it is advised to keep a safe distance from them. Due to their large numbers and low Vitality, a player can easily clear groups of them using the Harpoon Gun. Alternatively, the SMG typically kills one with a single bullet, making it an effective, albeit expensive option.

Another strategy involves melee weapons, such as the Crowbar or Boarding Axe. If the player can kill the Leucocyte before it has a chance to explode, it is possible to clear a Thalamus without risking paralysis. Note that this strategy falls apart quickly if a particularly large group of Leucocytes attack the player at once.

Trivia

  • The Leucocyte uses sound files with similar names to the legacy creature, the Carrier.
  • Leucocytes (or leukocytes) are alternative names for white blood cells, whose behavior and purpose is similar to the in-game enemy.
