The Tiger Thresher's slender body is silvery with darker stripes (hence the moniker of "tiger") and spots, including a black "collar" around the neck. The Tiger Thresher is a ray-finned fish beast that lives within the oceans of Barotrauma.

Description

Tiger Threshers are eel-like creatures that have leopard-like splotches towards the front of their body, and small stripes towards their tail (like a tiger). Their head is transparent and bioluminescent, like that of a barreleye fish. Like the head of the Tiger Thresher, their tail also glows, but not as brightly as their head. The spine of the Tiger Thresher has spiny protrusions that cover the majority of their back. Tiger Threshers do not have visible eyes, like most of the sea-life on Europa.

Tiger Threshers are only found in swarms (amount depends on the difficulty) with Bone Threshers.

In-Game

Tiger Threshers will favor going after humans out in the water. Their razor-sharp teeth inflict heavy bleeding on their prey. Tiger Threshers are capable of entering the submarine through holes in the hull.

Tiger Threshers will attack any creature on sight, regardless of its strength. They have been sighted hunting Molochs.

Tiger Threshers can't breathe air, and will quickly die in a room without water.

Combat Strategies

Since Tiger Threshers only hunt in packs, it is highly advised to avoid allowing them entry to the sub. Their quick movements along with spacing manoeuvres making them hard to hit with weapons like the Chaingun and even the Railgun if the gunner lacks experience. Piercing Ammunition Boxes are incredibly effective at neutralising the targets due to the piercing nature, high damage output, and high fire rate of the Coilgun itself.
In the event that Tiger Threshers stage a successful breach and close quarters combat is unavoidable, it is advised to use weapons such as the Shotgun or SMG. The large surface area of the body makes the SMG a viable option, whilst the shotgun allows for quick elimination of a threat if it gets too close. It is highly recommended to avoid using melee weapons, as they can easily overwhelm and consume the player if they underestimate their opponent.
