The Watcher is a turtle looking Europan creature named after its large eye. Lacking any straight-forward attacks, its strength resides in the Watcher's Gaze it inflicts when "observing" its targets.
Description
The Watcher's black spiked shell protects its main body, leaving only its very large red eye and its three paddles exposed.
Watchers are deaf, visually-oriented animals. Their eye is both their offensive tool and only weakness.
Watchers are solitary creatures always encountered alone.
In-game
Watchers are passive but inquisitive creatures: despite having no desire to attack the submarine or its crew, Watchers will still approach the ship to gaze at human activities.
To efficiently deal with a watcher, a submarine crew should manoeuver below the Watcher to target its large unarmored paddles, or directly in front of it to get the weapons in range of its eye. The eye is highly susceptible to all Coilgun ammunition types, with a x5 damage multiplier for Lacerations. A diver equipped with a firearm can also take advantage of the eye's same weakness to Gunshot Wound.
The Watcher is completely immune to Burns, Psychosis and, obviously, its own Watcher's Gaze. Spikes surrounding its shell are immune to Bleeding and will absorb 90% of any Internal Damage variant.
Upon being damaged, the Watcher will flee and deploy a green acid mist behind, which inflicts Burns to divers and damage the submarine's hull. This damage is progressive, and each of the 9 acid "emitters" lasts 30 seconds.
