The Charybdis is a European creature that spawns rarely in the Abyss.

Description

The Charybdis resembles a massive eyeless whale, with an odd humpback, blacked out fins and sharp white teeth. It also has a single long tail. The body features a pale grey-ish ice blue coloration, with darker stripes along the back. The lower belly seemingly possesses a lighter tanned color. There are a group of large veins heading down from the head to the base of the neck. The curved limbs possess notably shiny scales, whereas the lower torso seems to have a rough leathery texture.

Most unusually, the Charybdis heavily resembles an upside-down whale. While this is most likely unintentional, it could be used as a way to play dead as a possum would, so as to hide from larger predators that also roam the Abyss.

In-game

The Charybdis is unusually quick (but not so much as a Coelanth) and very bulky, but suffers from somewhat low damage, struggling to even pierce the hull of a Shuttle. As they cannot easily be outrun, the best course of action is to use lower-grade weaponry until it dies, and if one possesses an Ancient Weapon and a Diving Suit it may be worth fighting it in person due to the minimal threat its jaws pose.
