ID Cards are essential items that can be used in Barotrauma.
Normal ID Card
The Normal ID Card is the standard Card possessed by any active crew members of the Submarine. There are two variants: Personal and Default.
Personal ID Card
Whenever a character spawns, they are given a Personal ID Card, which has detailed information on themselves and their role. Depending on the job the character has, they will be given one with a unique clearance level specific to that job. The Card is primarily used for opening doors on the submarine which are inaccessible without proper clearance.
ID cards can be purchased from Habitation and Colony Outposts. The card gets assigned the appropriate tags for the character doing the purchase.
ID cards left in a duffel bag are automatically removed at the end of the round.
Default ID Card
The Default ID Card that does not specify the owner and its clearance level is only found inside any Cabinets of a shipwreck. Its clearance level is random and more limited than the one with specific details, only capable of gaining access to certain types of hulls.
Pirate ID Card
The Pirate ID Card is used by pirate ship crew. Note when wearing a Pirate ID Card and camouflaging the face (e.g. by wearing a diving suit), pirate ship crew might consider the user as own ship crew. Like the Shipwreck ID Card, it gives the user appropriate access to most parts of the pirate ship and can only be obtained from a deceased or unconsious member of the pirate crew.
Submarine Editor
In the Submarine Editor, the Spawnpoint object can set tags for ID cards on characters spawning from that point.
Any tag can be written into the "Picked By" field of doors and secure storages to control access. The idcard
tag will allow access to anyone with a Personal ID card.
