Template:Stub The railgun is the first and, currently, the only available stationary weapon in Barotrauma. It uses railgun shells as ammunition. Those must be loaded by hand in a nearby magazine; up to 6 shells can be loaded at a time.
The usual railgun shells are hollow and can be filled with an item. This feature allows for the placement of explosives inside, creating more damaging ammunitions if need be.
Nuclear railgun shells are special ammunitions of extreme destructive power, which can be precious to bring down some creatures.
As many other structures in the submarine, the railgun requires electricity to function; their associated mural battery need to be charged before firing, and each shot will use up some amount of this store. Note that attempting to fire a railgun with no shell loaded doesn't empty the battery.
