The Ancient Weapon is a powerful weapon of alien design that can be very rarely found within the Alien Ruins. It takes up both hands when equipped. It is currently the best handheld weapon in Barotrauma.
Function
Inserting a filled Oxygen Tank inside the weapon will allow it to fire a long range beam. While the beam itself does mediocre damage, the fact that it is constantly applying said damage makes it rapidly build up to massive damage in seconds, decimating humans, creatures and submarine hulls alike.

Trivia
- While Oxygen Tanks can serve as fuel for it, Oxygenite Shards cannot. While this would imply the aliens could not operate their own weapon, it is most likely a development oversight.
- Internally, the Ancient Weapon is not a weapon at all, but rather a Tool that does damage to structures instead of repairing them as a Welding Tool would.
