Psychosis

Psychosis is an Affliction which causes the victim to see or hear things that are not real. Psychosis cannot directly injure crew, although it can distract and cause confusion. The effects of Psychosis worsen with affliction strength.

Inflicted by Deliriumine Poisoning, certain Medical Items, holding a Psychosis Alien Artifact, being struck with Dementonite melee weapons, firing an Alien Pistol, the gas vents in Alien Ruins, or the Outside Influence Gene taint.

Can be cured with Haloperidol, and treated to a lesser extent with Cigars, Pipe Tobacco, and Ethanol.

Psychosis is never shown to the afflicted character, and so must be recognized by either its effects, or by a crew member.

0-50 (Others): "The patient insists they saw a spider the other day, but seem otherwise healthy."
50-100 (Others): "The patient rants and mutters in an agitated fashion, a steady commentary of unseen events."
