“ | R-29 is a heavyweight transport ship. While not terribly well armed against Europa's underwater denizens, it has been retrofitted with two powerful electric discharge coils. Original design by rav2n. | „ |
–In-game description |
The R-29 "Big Rig" is a Transport class submarine.
Notable Features
The R-29 has two electrical discharge coils situated dorsally and ventrally across the engineering and cargo room compartments. Compared to discharge coils in other submarines, these take 80% less power to engage - allowing them to be used much more frequently than other submarines.
- The controls for both discharge coils are in the navigation terminal. Furthermore, the R-29 also sports a dual searchlight array similar to that of the Azimuth, overlooking the ventral side and top docking port respectively.
- Each Discharge coil has a power requirement of 2000kw and a cooldown of 0.5 seconds. Roughly 10 blasts can kill a crawler and 15-25 can kill mudraptors.
The R-29 glass window at the command room gives the captain a premium view and also serves as a focal weakspot against breaches.
The secure steel cabinet in the command room is unique on the R-29, as it is only accessible by the captain and is not shared with security officers.
Care should be taken with the R-29's low duct count, many rooms will need to be manually drained by opening hatches or doors. To offset this, the R-29 has an above average number of small pumps (9 in total) situated around the ship allowing for a theoretically high drainage speed if all can be utilized at once.
The R-29 two supercapacitors have half the power efficiency of other submarines, meaning they take more power to recharge.
The R-29 has both a top and bottom airlock that serves as a docking port as well, similar to the Orca series of ships.
Like all transport submarines, the R-29 has a class leading reactor output (5200kw) and battery capacity/output.
Wi-Fi Channels
This submarine does not use Wi-Fi.
Trivia
- The R-29 was added to Barotrauma after its builder, Alexander "rav2n" Voronov (as named in the credits), had won the Big Rig building competition, a competition held by the developers to give the chance for a community-built submarine to be added to the game.
