The Azimuth is a scout class Submarine.
Description
“ | Superior speed, sleek design and quality-of-life systems make this submarine a favorite among wealthy Coalition captains who manage to make it to retirement. | „ |
–In-game description |
Notable Features
The Azimuth is the only base submarine in the vanilla game to sport a silent running mode pre-configured, this will limit the engine output to 20% of it's maximum force. The Azimuth is also the fastest submarine in the game with a base top speed of 27 km/h without any rewiring necessary.
- It is highly recommended that this silent running mode be further improved by also engaging the Azimuth's battery array and with the reactor & sonar turned off for maximum undetectability.
- Due to the Azimuth's exceptionally powerful engine, it's passive sonar range is above average when in movement.
The Azimuth sports a dual searchlight array overseeing the front ventral and direct nose of the submarine accessed via a periscope near the command room. These searchlights can also be switched off.
General maintenance of the Azimuth is assisted by glass windows overlooking the two main ballasts, allowing for a quick assessment of Ballast Flora.
Armament and Coverage
The Azimuth dual depth charge tubes and general turret arcs heavily favor a kiting and evasive playstyle. A savvy captain should aim to outrun threats and fire backwards when aboard the Azimuth. The Azimuth's mobility also lends itself to readily bomb enemies with it's dual depth charges.
Storage and Equipment
The Azimuth lacks a Medical Fabricator, forcing the crew to rely on outpost facilities. Due to it's capacity for stealth, speed and decent 8 crate cargo storage. It can generate lots of income from trade and transport missions.
Wi-Fi Channels
This submarine does not use Wi-Fi.
Improving Silent Mode
- Rewire turret lights to a switch as well.
- The Subtract Component located above the status monitor controls the "Clamp" setting of how much force the engine applies. By default this is set to -20/20. Lowering this to -10/10 will further limit engine speed and generate less noise.
- Rewire the oxygen generator to be switched off with a switch if possiible (optional).
Optimal Use of Silent Mode
- Refrain from using active sonar or use directional sonar carefully
- Engage batteries.
- Turn off reactor and oxygen generator.
- Turn off external lights (spotlights and turret lights).
- Wearing diving masks and walking will minimize sound and prevent suffocation.
- Refrain from using fabricators or deconstructors.
Changelog
- 0.19.7.0 Rebalanced Engine Force values to better match hull size. Most Scouts (Azimuth, Orca2, Remora, Winterhalter) are now faster. Humpback, Typhon and Orca are slightly slower.
- 0.15.9.0 (Among the Ancients) Added a fabricator and deconstructor to Azimuth and slightly lowered its maximum speed.
- 0.15.9.0 (Among the Ancients) Increased Azimuth's battery out relay max power.
- 0.10.0.0 Fixed cargo spawning partially inside walls in Azimuth.
- 0.9.10.0 (Moloch-sized Update) Fixed Azimuth using tutorial junction boxes instead of normal ones (the tutorial variants are indestructible and don't have signal connections).
- 0.9.9.0 (Rusted Remnants) Introduced.
