The Railgun is a Submarine Weapon in Barotrauma. Similar to other turrets, it requires a loader to be linked to it for ammo.
Functions & Usage
Railguns fire medium velocity shells that deal high amounts of damage to anything they hit. They are typically slow-firing and require high precision to be useful.
Like other turrets, periscopes are typically used to aim and fire railguns. Firing railguns draws power from their connected supercapacitors, as well as shells from their linked loaders.
Ammunition
There are 4 types of railgun shells:
- Railgun Shells are typically filled with explosives to increase damage.
- Physicorium Shells are typically used for single targets. Their main advantage over normal shells is the increased direct damage.
- Nuclear Shells deal damage in a large radius, most typically used against other submarines.
- Canister Shells are good against medium-sized groups of creatures or single medium-health creatures. Can be recycled with lead.
All railgun shells, except for the canister shell, can hold 1 small to medium-sized item that is "used" upon impact.
