The Protective Universal Crisis Suit, or PUCS for short, bestows its user with immense resistances to environmental hazards such as radiation and fire. The built-in air-filtration system allows the suit to utilize hull oxygen when possible, and the built-in computer injects the user with whatever medicine is placed inside the suit.

The PUCS is an outerwear diving suit that provides Oxygen, protects against attacks, and protects against High Pressure. It can be crafted by an Engineer with the Ph.D in Nuclear Physics talent unlocked.

Function

A diving suit that lets the player breathe while underwater when an oxygen source is placed inside the suit. Unlike other Diving Suits, the PUCS will not drain oxygen from the tank while in an oxygenated room. In addition, the gear also protects the player from the ocean's water pressure, allowing them to swim outside of the submarine without getting crushed while above 6000m.

Players wearing a PUCS move 10% slower and have greatly reduced field of view. PUCS boosts the thrust of Underwater Scooters by 40%.

The PUCS has a slot that can contain a single medical/chemical item, similar to the Auto-Injector Headset, which is automatically used on the wearer when they reach or drop below 50% vitality. If wearing both auto-injector headset and PUCS, both will use their item simultaneously upon reaching the threshold. Auto-injecting an item bypasses the medical skill check for it and the wearer will always receive the maximum benefit of the item as if the check was passed, regardless of its skill requirement and the wearer's medical skill.

Diving suits have a light which illuminates a small area in front of the player, this light will be on as long as the player is alive.

Diving Suits can be stored in a Diving Suit Locker.

Trivia

The PUCS is likely a reference to the HEV (Hazardous Environment Suit) of the Half Life franchise. Similarly, the talent that unlocks the suit, Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics, references the protagonist of Half Life 1 and 2, Gordon Freeman. Gordon is a nuclear physicist who almost exclusively wears a specialized suit throughout the games and wields his signature crowbar, hence the 140% buff to crowbar attacks.
