The Harpoon Gun is a handheld weapon that can be acquired in Barotrauma.
Function
Harpoon guns act as short-range weaponry by firing spears. Loaded spears can be fired short distances both on board a submarine and underwater. Upon striking another crew member, creature or wall, the spear will become lodged in the target.
Fired spears deliver a low amount of damage and apply a moderate bleeding effect. However, they are capable of stunning the target, which can prove useful should the player need to escape from a hostile situation.
Spears can be recovered and reused after firing.
It should be noted that an inadequate Weapons skill (less than 30) will lessen the range of the harpoon gun.
Usage
The harpoon gun requires both hands to equip and must be manually loaded before firing. By default, the right mouse button aims the harpoon gun toward the cursor. Left-clicking will then fire a spear in the corresponding direction.

Trivia
- Pre-release videos for Barotrauma showed that spears were originally going to have a rope attached between them and the harpoon gun. This would allow the player to retract a spear back into the barrel of the gun after launching it.
