The harpoon gun is a handheld weapon that can be acquired in Barotrauma.
Function
The harpoon gun is capable of launching a spear from the barrel which can strike a character or creature. The damage done by the spear is weak and inflicts minimal bleeding on the target. It however is capable of stunning the target, which can prove useful should the player need to escape from a hostile situation.
Usage
The harpoon gun requires both hands to equip. Once equipped, the player can hold down right-click (mouse2) to aim the weapon. It will then angle itself in whatever direction your cursor is currently positioned at. Left-clicking (mouse1) will then fire the loaded ammunition.
When the spear hits a target it may attach to it. After shooting, spears can be picked up and reused.

Trivia
- Pre-release videos for the game showed that spears were originally going to have a rope attached between them and the harpoon gun. This would allow the player to retract a spear back into the barrel of the gun after launching it.
