The Hardened Wrench is a Tool in Barotrauma.

Description

The Hardened Wrench is a one-handed tool which can be used as a Melee Weapon. Its an upgrade over the regular Wrench as it repairs 25% faster and inflicts twice as much Blunt Force Trauma, a bit of Radiation Sickness and additionally has a good amount of Armor Penetration. Despite that it should still only be used as a last resort for smaller Creatures like Crawlers, but the armor penetration also makes fighting with Creatures like Mudraptors somewhat possible but still very dangerous. Its main purpose is performing mechanical repairs on installations which are in need of them. It is also used to detach certain devices from walls, such as Wiring Components or Buttons.


It can be crafted by an Engineer with the Heavy Hitter talent unlocked; It cannot be bought.

Function

The Hardened Wrench is held with one hand. As with all weapons and tools, using it is done by holding the Right Mouse Right-click to take aim, then by Left Mouse Left-clicking to shoot/use.

  • It can be used to repair mechanical installations by pressing the "Use" keybind (E by default) on an installation to open the repair GUI and starting the repairs.
    • Attempting a repair while not having the required Mechanical Engineering skill takes a lot longer and presents a risk of failure, which interrupts the repair and inflicts Lacerations and Stun.
  • It can also be used to detach items from the wall by pressing the "Use" keybind (E by default) on an item to start detaching it.
  • Its one-handed, meaning it can be dual-wielded, essentially doubling the DPS, but it does not increase the repair speed.
  • The Hardened Wrench gains 10% Repair Speed per quality level. (10% / 20% / 30%)
