The diving suit is a full-body suit that can be acquired in Barotrauma.

Function

A diving suit lets the player use a breathing apparatus while underwater, such as an Oxygen Tank. In addition, the gear also protects the player from the ocean's water pressure, allowing them to swim outside of the submarine without getting crushed.

Players wearing diving suits will move slower and have limited vision compared to those without them. The added weight also makes it harder to climb Ladders. An oxygen providing item is necessary to use the suit, either an Oxygen Tank, Oxygenite Shard, or Oxygenite Tank. If the player equips the suit without one of these items placed inside the suit, they will quickly suffocate.

Diving suits have a light which illuminates a small area in front of the player, this light will be on as long as the player is alive.

A player wearing a diving suit receives less damage from certain sources and, additionally, reduced bleeding. Burn damage is reduced by 40%, blunt damage by 20% (with bleeding amount reduced by 70%), and slash damage by 50% (preventing bleeding entirely)[1].

Trivia

  • Husks wear diving suits, albeit with a different texture featuring a smashed-open helmet. Their suits cannot be removed by conventional means, however it is possible to remove the suit by assuming control of a Husk via console commands. Removing the suit in this manner will not change the husk's appearance[2].
